Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851) was an outstanding English painter known for his landscapes and marine scenes. He was an innovator in the use of light, color, and atmosphere, making his works precursors to Impressionism. Turner became a member of the Royal Academy of Arts at the age of 26, highlighting his talent and recognition among his contemporaries. His masterpieces, such as "The Fighting Temeraire" and "Rain, Steam, and Speed," remain significant works in the history of art.
