An old 18th century map created in France by the famous engraver and cartographer Joseph Roux in 1779. The maps are rather crudely engraved, contain little nautical information, and vary in scale and orientation due to the small size of the maps. They do not provide geographic coordinates.
Beautiful copper engraved nautical chart of Saint-Drely Bay in Turkey, showing part of the Aegean coast with Candarli Bay and Aliaga Bay, located near the Turkish province of Izmir.
The map shows depth measurements and anchorage points.
This chart was used on HMS Victory in 1803 and 1805 and also on HMS Shannon.
Origin: "Recueil des principaux planes des Ports et Rades de la Mer Mediterranee escraits."
