DESCRIPTION:

Franz Eggenschwiler (1930-2000). Compositions, 1970-90s. Color lithography, posters depicting various compositions, mostly signed and dated. The special fascination for the printing process led him to develop an innovative type of offset and wood printing. When printing on wood, he transferred the shapes to a veneered wooden board, sawed it out and put it back together for printing. He included the structure and grain of the various wooden panels in a targeted manner and printed the individual "puzzle pieces" in very precise colors, often in several layers. In terms of content, they were often based on the so-called "telephone sketches", drawings that were made almost casually while on the phone and often provided the basis for ideas.
