DESCRIPTION:
DAS GUSTAV ADOLPH DENKMAL BEI LUETZENeingeweiht am 6. November 1837.The image on which the Monument to Gustav Adolf near Lützen is part of a memorial intended in memory of the Swedish king Gustav Adolf, who fell here in the Battle of Lützen in 1632. Initially, it was just a granite boulder, which, after the battle, was put on the spot where the body of Gustavus Adolphus was found. In 1833, Karl Friedrich Schinkel designed a cast-iron canopy, which was completed in 1837 and has been covering the stone ever since.
