This print from 1842 takes us back to the vibrant and spirited atmosphere of 16th century Germany. Three musicians at a tournament, plate from "A History of the Development and Customs of Chivalry", by Dr. Franz Kottenkamp, published by Carl Hoffmann, by Friedrich Martin von Reibisch. In this scene, we witness a group of flute players and drummers dressed in the colors of Bavaria, skillfully accompanying knights on horseback. The artist, Franz Rottenkamp, has beautifully captured the essence of this historical moment with his intricate engraving. As we delve into this artwork, we are transported to a time when tournaments were grand spectacles filled with excitement and grace. The musicians on horseback add an enchanting touch to the scene as they effortlessly play their instruments while riding alongside the cavalrymen.
