DESCRIPTION:
View of Frankfurt am Main around the middle of the 19th century. We can see part of the infrastructure of the then main metropolis on the stretch of the river and the shore: goods are transported by water on wooden barges, bustle is everywhere, at every corner. Boats stretch their sails when it's windy - the Main was already an interesting transport route back then because the railway network would be intensively expanded in Central Europe much later. In the alleys, on the main roads, horse-drawn transport will dominate for some time.
