DESCRIPTION:
Portrait of Pierre-Louis Manuel (1751 - 1793) French statesman, member of the Parisian municipality, prosecutor of the Parisian commune, deputy in the convention. Pierre-Louis Manuel was born in Montargis. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Christian Doctrine, was the home teacher of the son of a Parisian banker. In 1783 he wrote the pamphlet Essais historiques, critiques, littéraires, et philosophiques, for which he was imprisoned in the Bastille.
