DESCRIPTION:
Portrait of Clement Marot (1496 - 1544) - the most famous French poet and humanist of the Renaissance. Sympathized with the Reformation. The son of the poet Jean Marot, who was part of the group of great rhetoricians. Perhaps between 1510 and 1515 he attended lectures at the University of Orleans. He entered the service as a page to the secretary of finance, Nicolas de Neuville.
