Portrait of Willem II de la Mark is one of the leaders of the Dutch liberation movement, an admiral who commanded the forces of naval guerrillas. On April 1, 1572, on his initiative, the rebels took the city of Brielle, which led to the resumption of the Netherlands' struggle for independence from Spain.
